Apologies for the lack of updates on the site. Between Myspace and Facebook (which you should look us up on if you want to stay updated), we rarely visit our own dotcom. I still really, really want to redo this entire site, but its been difficult finding the time.
Weve been revisiting the idea of finishing the LP we started recording back in early 2007. Dan has been trying to setup a final mixdown and our former drummer Bill also wanted to be involved in that process. If all goes well, we hope the LP will finally get released.
Being that our sound has shifted drastically after Bill left the band, Dan and I have been discussing starting another recording project with the new songs that youve been hearing at our most recent live shows. Were still figuring out details, but most likely we will keep it simple this time around...an EP, perhaps recorded live.
Finally, we are playing Saturday, June 6th @ Winstons Cafe. Acoustic goodness from former Ultra Cindy frontman, Josh Kraemer aka Pan Am Down plus our own lush harmonies and indiepop jams. Come out, drink alot, eat a French Dip and listen to some local awesomeness!

Unfortunately Justin our short lived keyboardist is no longer with the band. We wish him well and will continue to create, record and perform without him. Also Ciesther, Paul and I are playing a secret show this Saturday to test out our chops and dust off the cobwebs. Congrats to Brad and Jen Rosenberg on the birth of their 2nd baby boy.

Hello everyone...the astropop 3 is well. we’ve added 2 new members-a new drummer and a keyboardist...we’re currently in the practice space twice a week working on a sorta best-of setlist along with a few brand new gems. we’re still in the studio working with brad on the new album and we’ll be back playing live shows soon. no plans on a tour just yet! NO HATE IN THE 08!!!

The Astropop 3 is alive and well? Hmmm!...As you may have or may not have heard via us or through the grapevine...the most recent lineup has pretty much disbanded with the exception of CIESTER PARILLA and myself. BILL MENDOZA and GABE GARDIOLA are currently working on other projects, BUT they have expressed their intentions of helping me record either a 4th Astropop 3 album OR a not so solo DAN VILLANUEVA album. The album will obviously be recorded at CLAY GARDEN STUDIOS with long time friend and producer BRAD ROSENBURGE (1888). Thanks GUYS! Ciesther, Billyjo, and Dan V have been diligently recording at Clay Garden Studios (Norfolk, VA) with producer Brad Rosenberg (1888). 4 songs are very close to being finished, 4 songs are done with basic band tracks, and 4 songs have yet to be born. The AP3 camp is very exited about this new record and promise that their 4th album will be their finest work to date. Donations to the astropop 3 recording fund will gladly be taken at any of the bands future shows. Happy New Year everybody. The demo\'s are done and astropop 3 will finally start recording their fourth full length album at Clay Garden Studios in Norfolk, VA with the ever careful hand of Brad Rosenburge of the 1888 this weekend! 1-06-07. Dan, Ciesther, and Bill are very eager to get their new songs recorded and released. The album will consist of 12 tracks and it\'s finishing date is tentatively set as march 2007. It is expected to be their finest recording to date! Stay tuned!

We are officially 3 again.
Guitarist Gabe Gardiola has decided to leave the band to focus on other life priorities and his solo project, incidentally called the Stellar Lights. We wish him well and hope to hear great things from him soon.
We are still rolling forward, working on new demos and retooling the ones in progress as well as playing a couple of shows in the next few weeks. Stay tuned and check out the most recent newsletter Dan posted.

Our CD-EP "Life" is out and about now! If you are interested in reading the one sheet, you can click here You can preview the title track on PSR's Myspace. I know it is a limited run and mainly for promotion, but I think PSR may be selling a few of the CD's as well.
In other news, obsessive Googling found that we got a blurb in this weeks Portfolio Weekly about the new additions to the band. It reads:
Alternative rockers Astropop 3 have added two new members. Bassist Keith Vanetta has left the band and is relocating to San Diego, California to pursue acting. Keith has been replaced by bassist Cies Parrilla. The group has also added another guitarist&vocalist, Gabe Gardiola. Both are former members of Vortex 479. The group's current CD-EP Life has just been released on the Virginia Beach indie-label Planting Seeds Records. Life features two new songs, "All in Your Head" and "All You Want Is Love." Plans are to follow up the EP with a new set of recordings to be produced by Brad Rosenberg at Clay Garden Studio. Astropop 3 is also featured on the upcoming CD Easy To Be Free: The Songs of Rick Nelson. The album is due to be released on May 16. Norfolks 1888 also makes an appearance on the Nelson tribute.

Our set time has changed for this Saturdays show at Jasonstock 3 - we are now playing at 11pm, instead of 9! Also check out Bills band, Self-Destructors, who are playing at 6pm the Friday before our show.
Still churning out the artwork for the Life single (sorry Neil!) If I haul ass, hopefully we can get the CD back from the duplicators before months end.
Speaking of artwork, I am long overdue for the website redesign. Got a lot going on..blah blah, I know. It will be done soon, I promise.

PSR in the Pilot
Planting Seeds Records appeared in a nice-sized blurb in Friday 3/24 Daily Break. PSR was able to snag a subheadline under the Hear and Now section and a bolded excerpt in the inside. Neil Delparto, 1888 and Astropop 3 were briefly mentioned, as it was in regards to PSR\'s upcoming Rick Nelson tribute CD. Big thanks to Jeff Maisey for the promo!

Dan Villanueva and the Astropop 3 are hard at work compiling tracks for the bands release of early unreleased demos/outtakes, simply titled "Sincerely, Astropop 3." Volume one was originally due out in July, but unfortunately the release has been moved back - no official date set, but you can be sure to get more information as we get it. Meanwhile, those of you getting that fix for that popfuzz live - fear not, the band has got it back together and will be performing a slew of live dates this summer. The folks at Shredding Paper Magazine recently unveiled their best LP's of 2004. According to the publication, more than 1,000 releases were reviewed in their pages in 2004.
